ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ALCOHOLS Disclosed is a process for producing alcohols, gene- rally either furfuryl alcohol by hydrogenation of furfural, or fatty alcohols by hydrogenation of fatty acids with correspon- ding numbers of carbon atoms or of their esters, at a pressure ranging from 20 to 100 bar, at a temperature ranging from 150 to 300°C, and in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a Cu-Cr mixture on the one hand, and of copper deposited on a support on the other hand.
