The invention relates to a process for producing alkali metal chlorate in an electrolytic cell that is divided by a cation selective separator into an anode compartment in which an anode is arranged and a cathode compartment in which a gas diffusion electrode is arranged. The process comprises introducing an electrolyte solution containing alkali metal chloride into the anode compartment and an oxygen-containing gas into the cathode compartment. The invention also relates to an electrolytic cell for the production of alkali metal chlorate comprising a cation selective separator dividing the cell into an anode compartment in which an anode is arranged and a cathode compartment in which a gas diffusion electrode is arranged. An inlet for electrolyte solution and an outlet for electrolysed solution are provided in the anode compartment and an inlet for introducing oxygen-containing gas is provided in the gas chamber. The invention also relates to a plant comprising the electrolytic cell and the use thereof for the production of alkali metal chlorate and/or chlorine dioxide.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un chlorate de métal alcalin dans une cellule électrolytique qui est divisée par un séparateur sélectif de cations dans un compartiment d'anode dans lequel est aménagée une anode, et un compartiment de cathode, dans lequel est aménagée une électrode de diffusion de gaz. Le procédé consiste à introduire une solution d'électrolyte dans un chlorure de métal alcalin à l'intérieur du compartiment d'anode et un gaz contenant de l'oxygène dans le compartiment de cathode. L'invention concerne aussi une cellule électrolytique destinée à la production de chlorate de métal alcalin comprenant un séparateur sélectif de cations divisant la cellule en un compartiment d'anode, dans lequel est aménagée une anode, et un compartiment de cathode, dans lequel est aménagée une électrode de diffusion de gaz. Une entrée pour solution d'électrolyte et une sortie pour solution électrolysée sont aménagées dans la chambre à gaz. L'invention concerne aussi une installation comprenant une cellule électrolytique et son utilisation à des fins de production de chlorate de métal alcalin et/ou de dioxyde de chlore.
