ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing alkali-metal selenate by oxidiz- ing selenium powder with hydrogen peroxide and neutralizing the selenic acid thus formed with alkali-metal hydroxide or carbonate in which, in a first step, reaction of the selenium powder is effec- ted on the surface of heated hydrogen peroxide in a receptacle and partial neutralization of the acid solution formed and, in a second step, the residual amounts of selenite are subsequently reacted with hydrogen peroxide to selenate.
