ABSTRACT The present invention provides in a process for produc- ing zeolitic molecular sieve powders by hydro-thermal crystalliza- tion of an aqueous aluminate-silicate mixture, separation of the crystallization product from the mother liquor and drying of the product, the improvement in which the aqueous medium containing the crystallization product is adjusted to a pH value between 8.5 and 11 prior to said drying. The present invention also provides a zeolitic molecular sieve powder having an average particle dia- meter of less than 10 µm and in proportions of less than 1% by weight of particles having sizes of more than 45 µm. Such zeolitic powders are particularly useful as ion exchangers, e.g. in the softening of water and as substitutes for phosphates in detergents and rinsing agents.
