Disclosed is a process for producing amino acids such as L-threonine and L-lysine, which comprises culturing, in a medium containing methanol as a major carbon source, a microorganism which belongs to the genus Methylobacillus and which has an ability to produce the amino acid(s) and resistance to at least one member selected from the group consisting of L-threonine, L-lysine and an amino acid analogue, said microorganism being obtained by mutation of a parent strain which belongs to the genus Methylobacillus and which has an enhanced sensitivity to at least one of an antibiotic and an amino acid analogue; allowing the amino acid(s) to accumulate in the culture; and recovering the amino acid(s) therefrom.

n divulgue un procédé pour la production d'acides aminés comme la L-thréonine et la L-lysine, comportant la culture, dans un milieu contenant du méthanol comme source principale de carbone, d'un microorganisme appartenant au genre Methylobacillus et qui a la capacité de produire un ou des acides aminés, ainsi qu'une résistance à au moins un élément choisi parmi un groupe constitué de la L-thréonine, de la L-lysine et d'un analogue d'acide aminé, ledit microorganisme étant obtenu par la mutation d'une souche parente appartenant au genre Methylobacillus et qui a une sensibilité accrue à au moins un antibiotique et à un analogue d'acide aminé. Selon ce procédé, on laisse le ou les acides aminés s'accumuler dans la culture et on les extrait ensuite de celle-ci.
