Abstract of the Disclosure Improvement in a method for producing a superconducting wire of compound oxide such as YBa2Cu3O7-.delta. by the steps comprising filling a metal pipe with a powder material, carrying out plastic deformation of the metal pipe and then subjecting the powder material in deformed metal pipe to sintering operation. The present invention is characterized in that the heat-treatment is carried out in the coexist of silver oxide: Ag2O placed inside the metal pipe.
