An industrially advantageous process is presented whereby a high purity anthracene diether can be produced in good yield. An aqueous medium containing an alkali salt of 9,10--anthracenediol is added to an organic solvent containing an etherifying agent in the presence or absence of a quaternary ammonium compound or a quaternary phosphonium compound, to carry out the etherifying reaction to produce the anthracene diether.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé industriellement avantageux grâce auquel on peut produire un diéther d'anthracène de grande pureté avec un rendement élevé. A cet effet, un milieu aqueux contenant un sel alcalin de 9,10-anthracènediol est ajouté à un solvant organique contenant un agent étherifiant en présence ou en l'absence d'un composé d'ammonium quaternaire ou d'un composé de phosphonium quaternaire, afin de produire l'étherification du composé diol. On produit ainsi un diéther d'anthracène.
