ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing a carbon heat generator which has the steps of uniformly dispersing one or more types of metal compounds for forming vitreous property at oxidizing time in a composition having moldability and exhibiting high carbon residual yield after calcining, molding the resultant dispersed composition in a free shape, carbon pretreating the molded composition, and then carbonizing the composition in a nonoxidative atmosphere to form an oxidation preventive glass film by the oxidation of the metal compound exposed on the surface thereof by the use of an oxidative atmosphere and to simultaneously prevent oxygen from diffusing in the interior thereof, and forming a glass film newly on a damaged portion by self-recovery effect even if a pinhole or a crack occurs by the damage of the glass film. Thus, the process does not cause external appearance and weight differences before and after heat generating.
