A process for efficiently producing coenzyme Q10 by using a microorganism with the use of a coenzyme Q10 side chain synthase gene originating in a fungus belonging to the genus Rodotorula. A DNA having a DNA sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1, 3 or 5 or a DNA sequence derived therefrom by deletion, addition, insertion and/or substitution of one or several bases and encoding a protein having a decaprenyl diphosphate synthase activity.
