Abstract: A process for producing crude elastase from an elastase-containing solution obtained by activation treatment of the pancreas of porcine is provided. The activation is effected by autolysis or by the addition of mammalian duodenum or extract therefrom, trypsin, pancreatin, ethanol, acetone or isopropyl alcohol. The precipitation is eff- ected by adding a water-soluble organic solvent Such as acetone, ethanol or isopropyl alcohol in such an amount that the concentration of the solvent will be in the range of 30 to 80 V/V % based on the solution including the solvent.
