A process for producing cumene, characterized in that a copper catalyst precursor containing copper in an oxidized state is reduced with hydrogen in liquid cumene to prepare a copper catalyst and cumyl alcohol is subjected to hydrogenolysis in the presence of the copper catalyst; and a process for producing propylene oxide which includes that process.

Procédé de fabrication de cumène qui consiste à réduire un précurseur de catalyseur de cuivre contenant du cuivre à l'état oxydé avec de l'hydrogène dans du cumène liquide pour préparer un catalyseur de cuivre, et à soumettre l'alcool cumylique à l'hydrogénolyse en présence d'un catalyseur de cuivre; et procédé pour produire de l'oxyde de propylène qui comprend ce procédé.
