ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for the pro- duction of cyanogen chloride, which comprises reacting hydrocyanic acid and chlorine in aqueous medium, the chlorine being intro- duced into the aqueous medium in liquid form and the reaction being carried out under applied pressure such that there is sub- stantially no gaseous chlorine in equilibrium with the aqueous medium. The process has the advantage of improving the space time yield of cyanogen chloride.
