ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides in a process for pro- ducing cyanogen chloride by reacting hydrogen cyanide with hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous medium in the presence of cupric and ferric ions, the improvement in which the reaction is carried out under super- atmospheric pressure and that cyanogen chloride is recovered separately from oxygen and nitrogen.
