Dendritic cells are of interest therapeutically as antigen-presenting cells. A process is disclosed in which peripheral blood cells are first isolated and the CD 34 antigen-expressing blood progenitor cells which they contain are then enriched. These enriched cells are expanded ex-vivo using a combination of haematopoietic growth factors and cytokines. Over a period of 10-20 days, they give rise, in particular to dendritic cells which, where appropriate, can be purified still further. These cells are functionally active with regard to the ability to present antigen.

Les cellules dendritiques sont intéressantes du point de vue thérapeutique comme cellules présentant des antigènes. L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet tout d'abord d'isoler des cellules sanguines périphériques, puis de les enrichir en cellules précurseurs du sang qui expriment l'antigène CD 34. Ces cellules sont multipliées ex vivo avec des facteurs de croissance hématopoïétiques associés à des cytokines. Il en résulte, à la fin d'une période de 10 à 20 jours, surtout des cellules dendritiques, qui peuvent le cas échéant être davantage purifiées. Ces cellules sont actives du point de vue fonctionnel, ayant la capacité de présenter des antigènes.
