The present invention relates to a process for producing epoxides. This process comprises the oxidation of hydrocarbons in the presence of oxygen and at least one reducing agent and a catalyst, characterised in that the reaction mixture is passed through at least one catalyst-containing layer and through at least one adsorbent-containing layer, which adsorbs the epoxide. The catalyst-containing layers and the adsorbent-containing layers are arranged alternately one behind the other such that the reaction mixtures passes through a catalyst-containing layer, and an adsorbent- containing layer.
