Abstract: For the formation of fermentable sugar solutions, yeast is added to the sugar solution. The yeast solu- tion formed is separated from the mixture formed and introduced into the reaction chamber. After completion of the fermentation process, the yeast is discharged from the fermentation receptacle and at least partially recycled for being mixed with the sugar solution after having been combined with a nutrient solution. Before separating the yeast solution; this solution can be subjected to flocculation.
