A production process and a catalyst are provided, which can be less decreased in activity of the catalyst even when CO2, water and the like are present in the starting material and/or the reaction system, and which can produce a formic ester or a methanol at a low temperature and a low pressure. The present invention relates to a process for producing methanol, comprising reacting carbon monoxide with an alcohol in the presence of an alkali metal-type catalyst, and/or an alkaline earth metal-type catalyst to produce a formic ester, wherein a hydrogenolysis catalyst of formic ester and hydrogen are allowed to be present together in the reaction system to hydrogenate the produced formic ester and thereby obtain a methanol.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'esters de formate ou de méthanol, ainsi qu'un catalyseur destiné à cet effet, grâce auxquels l'abaissement d'activité, même lorsque le matériau brut contient CO2, de l'eau ou analogue, n'a que peu d'influence, et lesquels permettent de préparer les composés objets de l'invention, dans des conditions de température basse et de faible pression. L'invention concerne notamment un procédé de préparation de méthanol, caractérisé en ce que, lors de la préparation d'un ester de formate, par réaction entre du monoxyde de carbone et un alcool, en présence d'un catalyseur de métal alcalin et/ou d'un catalyseur de métal alcalino-terreux, il fait coexister aussi, dans ce système de réaction, à la fois un catalyseur d'hydrogénolyse, destiné aux esters de formate, et de l'hydrogène, de manière à hydrogéner un ester de formate formé et produire ainsi du méthanol.
