ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is disclosed a process for producing germanes by reducing germanium halide with a mixture of alkylaluminum hydride and trialkylaluminum, in which a treatment for reducing the content of trialkylaluminum the mixture to 10 mol.% or less relative to the alkyl aluminum hydride is carried out prior to the reduction reaction. As to the treatment or reducing the content of trialkylaluminum in the mixture, there are provided, for example, distillation, recrystallization, complex formation followed by separation, pyrolysis and decomposition by hydrogenation and addition of alkylaluminum halide to said mixture.
