A process for producing a high purity 3,5-dihydroxy~6-heptenoic acid derivative by controlling the content of impurities such as denatured substances, is provided. When a 3,5-dihydroxy-6-heptenoic acid derivative is produced by a process which comprises a step of contacting the 3,5-dihydroxy-6- heptenoic acid derivative of the formula (1) wherein R is a C1-4 alkyl group, with a C1-4 lower alcohol-containing solvent, an alcohol~ containing solvent having its content of an oxidizing substance lowered, is used to at most 0.05 molar equivalent to a 3,5-dihydroxy-6-heptenoic acid derivative, to suppress impurities contained in the 3,5-dihydroxy-6~heptenoic acid derivative.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un dérivé d'acide 3,5-dihydroxy-6-hepténoïque de haute pureté consistant à réguler la teneur en impuretés, telles que des substances dénaturées. Quand un dérivé d'acide 3,5-dihydroxy-6-hepténoïque est produit au moyen d'un procédé consistant à mettre en contact le dérivé d'acide 3,5-dihydroxy-6-hepténoïque de formule (1), dans laquelle R représente un groupe alkyle en C¿1-4?, avec un solvant renfermant un alcool inférieur en C¿1-4?, un solvant contenant un alcool et dont la teneur en une substance oxydante est réduite est utilisé jusqu'à 0.05 équivalent molaire pour un dérivé d'acide 3,5-dihydroxy-6-hepténoïque, afin de supprimer des impuretés renfermées dans ledit dérivé.
