ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE To reduce the ammonia content in the product gas in the BMA process and thus to improve the yield the reaction gas mixture of this process is contacted with zeolites and the ammonia sub- sequently desorbed from the zoelites is preferably reused in the reaction stage. If the desorption is carried out with a scavenging gas similar to the hydrocarbon used in the reaction, then this mixture can be recycled directly to the BMA reactor. The amounts of ammonia heretofore lost from this process are thus utilized again in the process.
