A process for producing an indolocarbazole derivative represented by general formula (II) by the acidic treatment of a silylated indolocarbazole derivative represented by general formula (VI) wherein R1, R2 and R3 represent each independently lower alkyl or aryl; and R4 represents lower alkyl.
