PROCESS FOR PRODUCING INERT ANODE FOR USE IN COPPER RECOVERY FROM COPPER-CONTAINING SOLUTION BY ELECTROPLATING ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE A process for producing an inert anode comprising the steps of: a) treating a lead plate with a solution containing hydrochloric acid and nitric acid for microetching to increase its surface's roughness and thus its effective area for future use in electroplating; b) immersing the microetched lead plate as an anode in a bath containing an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid of suitable concentration; and c) undergoing an electrolysis by allowing electricity of controlled current type and current density to pass through the bath so as to controllably form a layer of homogeneous delicate insoluble lead peroxide (PbO2) on a surface of the lead plate. The treated lead plate is useful as an insoluble electrode for use in the copper recovery from copper containing solution, such as waste water from electroplating, wash water.
