PROCESS FOR PRODUCING L-.beta.-HALOALANIE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing L-.beta.-haloalanine from 3-halo- 2-ketopropionicacid with an enzymatic conversion is provided. In the process, an active substance which can be aminated with an asymmetric reduction of 2-ketobutyric acid is used as an enzymatically active substance. Further, a regeneration system may be incorporated into the process.
