ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE L-glutamic acid is produced by culturing a mutant microorganism belonging to the genus Corynebacterium or Brevibacterium which mutant is temperature-sensitive remediable with an unsaturated higher fatty acid. L-glutamic acid is recovered from the culture liquor.
