In a process for producing liquid pig iron (13) or liquid metallurgical preparations from starting materials which consist of preferably lump-shaped and/or pellet-shaped iron ore (4) and if required flux powder (5), the starting materials are directly reduced into sponge iron in a reduction region (2), the sponge iron is loaded into a melting and gasifying region (12), where it is molten together with carboniferous substances (10) and oxygen-containing gas, generating a CO- and H2-containing reduction gas which is extracted from the melting and gasifying region (12) and led into the reduction region (2), where it is reacted and extracted as top gas, the top gas being scrubbed and the thus produced sludge being at least partially agglomerated. In order to utilise the thus obtained agglomerates with the lowest possible energy consumption, they are recycled in the reduction region (2).
Selon ce procédé de production de fonte brute liquide (13) ou de préparations métallurgiques liquides à partir de matières initiales constituées de minerai de fer (4), de préférence en morceaux et/ou en boulets, et le cas échéant de fondants (5), on réduit directement les matières initiales dans une zone de réduction (2) jusqu'à les transformer en éponge de fer, on charge l'éponge de fer dans une zone de gazéification et de fusion (12), dans laquelle elle est fondue sous apport de substances carbonifères (10) et de gaz qui contiennent de l'oxygène. On génère ainsi un gaz réducteur qui contient du CO et du H¿2?, on l'extrait de la zone de gazéification et de fusion (12) et on l'introduit dans la zone de réduction (2), dans laquelle il subit une réaction et est extrait sous forme de gaz de haut de colonne, qui lui est soumis à un lavage, les boues ainsi éliminées étant au moins partiellement agglomérées. Afin de réutiliser les agglomérés ainsi obtenus avec une consommation d'énergie aussi réduite que possible, on les remet en circulation dans la zone de réduction.
