Abstract of the Disclosure Process for producing liquid polymer which comprises polymerizing a conjugated diene or copolymerizing a conjugated diene and an aromatic vinyl compound together with 0.01 to 100 mol of ethylene and/or propylene to 1 mol of the conjugated diene in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (1) at least one nickel compound, (2) an alkyl aluminum halide of the formula RnAlX3-n wherein R is an alkyl, aralkyl or phenyl group, X is a halogen and n is a number in the range of 1 to 2, and (3) a phosphorus compound. These liquid polymers are useful as components of paints, a starting material for synthetic perfumes and as plasticizers for resins.
