Processes for producing gel compositions comprising: esterifying a portion of the surface of a gel composition sufficient to produce a gel composition having a rod density of less than or equal to 0.27 g/cc, and/or a tap density of less than or equal to 0.2 g/cc through contact with at least one esterification agent and at least one catalyst. The processes may be utilized to produce low density gel compositions without the need for a supercritical drying step or thermal treatment.

Procédé de production de compositions en gel, qui consistent à: estérifier une partie de la surface d'une composition en gel suffisante pour produire une composition en gel ayant une densité en tige inférieure ou égale à 0,27 g/cc, et/ou une densité après tassement inférieure ou égale à 0,2 g/cc, par contact avec au moins un agent d'estérification et au moins un catalyseur. Lesdits procédés peuvent être utilisés pour la production de compositions en gel à faible densité, sans phase de séchage ou de traitement thermique supercritiques.
