ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for preparing magnetic recording elements comprising a support having thereon a magnetic recording layer by forming a single-layer or a multi-layer free fall curtain of a magnetic coating composition comprising a ferromagnetic powder and a binder, and, while applying a magnetic field to the free fall curtain formed, coating the magnetic coating composition onto a travelling support which is running through the free fall curtain.
