A process for producing maleic anhydride is described, which comprises (i) reacting a hydrocarbon with oxygen in a vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst to yield a reaction mixture gas containing maleic anhydride, (ii) bringing the reaction mixture gas into contact with an organic solvent to collect the maleic anhydride in the organic solvent, (iii) separating at least part of the maleic anhydride from the organic solvent, (iv) washing with an aqueous alkali solution at least part of the organic solvent from which maleic anhydride has been separated, and (v) reusing the resultant washed organic solvent and the residual organic solvent for contact with the reaction mixture gas.

Description d'une méthode de production d'anhydride maléique, consistant à : i) faire réagir un hydrocarbure avec de l'oxygène en phase vapeur et en présence d'un catalyseur pour l'obtention d'un mélange gazeux de réaction contenant de l'anhydride maléique; ii) amener le mélange gazeux de réaction en contact avec un solvant organique de façon à recueillir l'anhydride maléique dans le solvant organique; iii) séparer au moins une partie de l'anhydride maléique du solvant organique; iv) laver avec une solution aqueuse d'alcali au moins une partie du solvant organique dont l'anhydride maléique a été séparé; v) réutiliser le solvant organique lavé résultant et le solvant organique résiduel pour contact avec le mélange gazeux de réaction.
