There is provided a process for efficiently producing an anti form of an optically active .beta.-hydroxy-.alpha.-aminocarboxylic acid derivative that is useful as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. The process for producing optically active .beta.-hydroxy-.alpha.-aminocarboxylic acid derivative of formula (2) or (3) (see formula 2) (see formula 3) wherein R1 is substituted or unsubstituted C1-20 alkyl group, or substituted or unsubstituted C4-12 aromatic group, R2 is substituted or unsubstituted C1-20 alkyl group, or substituted or unsubstituted C4-12 aromatic group, characterized by comprising subjecting an .alpha.-aminoacyl acetic acid ester compound of formula (1) (see formula 1) wherein R1 and R2 have the same meaning as the above, to hydrogenation by catalytic asymmmetric hydrogenation in the presence of an acid.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production efficace de dérivés d'acide .beta.-hydroxy-.alpha.-aminocarboxylique actifs au plan optique, à conformation anti, utiles en tant qu'intermédiaires de médicaments ou de produits chimiques agricoles. Elle porte également sur la production de dérivés d'acide .beta.-hydroxy-.alpha.-aminocarboxylique actifs au plan optique, représentés par la formule générale (2) ou (3), [dans laquelle R?1 ¿représente alkyle C¿1?-¿20? substitué ou non ou un groupe aromatique C¿4?-¿12? substitué ou non ; et R¿2? représente alkyle C¿1-20 ?substitué ou non ou un groupe aromatique C¿4-12 ?substitué ou non]. Ledit procédé se caractérise par l'hydrogénation d'un ester d'.alpha.-aminoacylacétate représenté par la formule (1) [dans laquelle R?1¿ et R?2¿ sont tels que définis ci-dessus] par hydrogénation asymétrique catalytique en présence d'un acide.
