A process for producing an optically active cyclic sulfoxide. The process for producing an optically active cyclic sulfoxide is characterized by causing cumene hydroperoxide or isopropylcumyl hydroperoxide to act on a cyclic thioether in an inert solvent in the presence of an alcohol, water, or a mixture of water and an alcohol and in the presence of a complex of an optically active tartaric diester with a titanium(IV) alkoxide.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de sulfoxyde cyclique optiquement actif, caractérisé en ce qu'on contraint un hydroperoxyde de cumène ou un hydroperoxyde d'isopropylcumyle à agir sur un thioéther cyclique, dans un solvant inerte, en présence d'alcool, d'eau, ou d'un mélange d'eau et d'alcool, et en présence d'un complexe d'un diester tartrique optiquement actif avec un alcoxyde de titane (IV).
