The invention relates to a process for producing polyacrylic acids and copolymerizates of acrylic acid with up to 50 mol % of comonomers. These compounds have a molecular weight less than 100 000, measured at a pH of 8, and 10 to 60 mol % is neu- tralized with calcium hydroxide. The invention also relates to the use of these products as grinding and dispersing aids for cal- cium carbonate.
