A process for producing a polyester of uniform quality, in which a slurry of powdery aromatic dicarboxylic acid in a liquid diol is prepared and the resulting slurry is processed through an esterification step and a polycondensation step in the presence of a catalyst, is provided by performing the reactions in the esterification and the polycondensation in a stabilized condition, which process comprises recycling a liquid containing the unreacted diol and the catalyst separated from the reaction mixture in the polycondensation step back to the esterification step as recycling liquor, detecting the concentrations of diol, diol condensation product, catalyst and water in the recycling liquor in the course of being recycled back to the esterification step by a near infrared spectrophotometer of a noise level of at the highest 50 x 10-6 Abs with a wave length repeatability of 0.01 nm or less as well as by an X-ray fluorescence analyzer and controlling the feed rate of each starting material based on the detected analytical values in such a manner that the totalized composition of the starting materials and the recycling liquor will be maintained in a predetermined range.
Méthode pour obtenir un polyester de qualité uniforme, où on prépare une suspension épaisse d'acide aromatique dicarboxylique en poudre dans un diol liquide, suspension qui est traitée par estérification et polycondensation en présence d'un catalyseur; les réactions dans les étapes d'estérification et de polycondensation se font dans les conditions de stabilité voulues; la méthode consiste à recycler un liquide renfermant le diol n'ayant pas réagi et le catalyseur séparé du mélange réactionnel dans l'étape de polycondensation vers l'étape d'estérification sous forme de liqueur de recyclage, à mesurer les concentrations de diol, de produit de condensation de diol, de catalyseur et d'eau dans la liqueur lors de son recyclage vers l'étape d'estérification, à l'aide d'un spectrophotomètre dans le proche infra-rouge à un niveau maximal de bruit de 50 x 10-6 Abs et avec une répétabilité de 0,01 nm ou moins pour la longueur d'onde, et d'un analyseur par fluorescence X; le débit d'alimentation des matières de départ est réglé d'après les valeurs ainsi mesurées, de telle façon que la composition totale de ces matières et de la liqueur recyclée demeure dans un plage déterminée d'avance.
