Disclosed is a method for producing a less colored polymer without reducing vinyl monomers by a side reaction. Also disclosed are a less colored coating composition and a coated article having a less colored coating film. Specifically disclosed is a polymer obtained by a polymer production method comprising a step for obtaining a polymer by polymerizing a vinyl monomer mixture containing a quinone compound, and a step for adding an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent into a liquid containing the polymer.
