PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYPROPYLENE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a process for the polymerization of propylene, a polymer having improved mechanical properties can be obtained in high yields without forming a noticeable amount of an amorphous polymer as a by-product by using a catalyst system comprising (a) a fine granular form of titanium trichloride, (b) an organoaluminum compound, and (c) an organic phosphite having a formula: P(OR)nX3-2 wherein R denotes a hydrocarbon radical having 1 - 30 carbon atoms, X a halogen atom, and n a number 1 - 3, the titanium being a purple finely granulated solid obtained by precipitation from a homogeneous liquid mixture or solution of titanium trichloride and an ether in the presence of a Lewis acid.
