ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE A process for producing potassium sulfate and hydrochloric acid, which comprises the steps of: (a) reacting sulfuric acid, potassium chloride and a hydrochloric acid solution of potassium salts at 60 to 150°C to prepare a potassium hydrogensulfate dispersion or solution and hydrogen chloride, and then separating and recovering the hydrogen chloride, (b) dissolving the potassium hydrogensulfate dispersion or solution obtained in step (a) in water at 60 to 150°C to prepare an aqueous solution of potassium salts after optionally adding potassium chloride to said potassium hydrogensulfate dispersion or solution, and (c) adding methanol in the aqueous solution of potassium salts obtained in step (b) and precipitating and separating potassium sulfate crystals at 60 to 130°C.
