The present invention provides a prepreg obtained by stretching a material comprising, as a main component, an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity of 5-50 dl/g as measured at 135°C in decalin, to a total draw ratio of at least 20, subjecting the resulting stretched polyethylene material to a splitting treatment, and impregnating the resulting material with a thermosetting resin, and a process for producing said prepreg. The split stretched polyethylene material has improved adhesion to the impregnant resin and can be used as a good base material for prepreg.

L'invention porte sur un préimprégné obtenu par étirage d'un matériau - qui renferme, comme principal constituant, un polyéthylène de masse molaire ultra-élevée, avec une viscosité intrinsèque de 5 à 50 dl/g, mesurée à 135 degrés C dans la décaline - jusqu'à un taux d'étirage d'au moins 20; le matériau à base de polyéthylène ainsi étiré est soumis à un traitement de division, puis imprégné avec une résine thermodurcissable. Procédé pour l'obtention du préimprégné. Le matériau à base de polyéthylène, étiré et divisé, possède une meilleure adhérence à la résine imprégnante et peut servir comme matière de départ pour le préimprégné.
