PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PULP Abstract of the Disclosure: There is disclosed a process for producing pulp comprising subjecting lignocellulosic material to chemical cooking treatment and optionally to further mechanical defibration, the improvement in which a small amount of a quinone compound is present in the cooking treatment whereby the removal of lignin from the lignocellulosic material is promoted while hydrolysis of hemicellulose is prevented to obtain pulp having superior properties in high yield. - 1 -
