A process for producing a quinoline compound represented by the general formula (I), characterized by reacting a quinolinecarbaldehyde represented by the general formula (II) with an imine compound represented by the general formula (III) and subsequently hydrolyzing the reaction product. Thus, the quinoline compound, which is useful as an intermediate for medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc., can be efficiently and industrially advantageously produced through a small number of steps from raw materials which are industrially easily available and easily handleable. (In the formulae, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7 are the same as defined in the description.)

Cette invention concerne un procédé de production d'un composé quinoléine représenté par la formule générale (I), lequel procédé se caractérise en ce qu'il consiste à faire réagir un quinolinecarbaldéhyde représenté par la formule générale (II) avec un composé imine représenté par la formule générale (III) puis à hydrolyser le produit de réaction. Le composé quinoléine, qui sert d'intermédiaire notamment pour les médicaments et les produits chimiques agricoles, peut ainsi être produit de façon efficace et avantageuse d'un point de vue industriel en un petit nombre d'étapes à partir de matières premières qui sont facilement disponibles dans l'industrie et qui peuvent être manipulées facilement. (Dans les formules (I), (II) et (III), R?1¿, R?2¿, R?3¿, R?4¿, R?5¿, R?6¿ et R?7¿ sont tels que définis dans la description).
