A process for producing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4- fluorophenyl)-quinoline-3-carbaldehyde of the formula (III): (see formula III) characterized by oxidizing 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4- fluorophenyl)-3-hydroxymethylquinoline of the formula (I): (see formula I) with a salt of a hypohalogenous acid in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt of the formula (II): (see formula II) wherein each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 which are the same or different from one another, is a C1-16 alkyl group or a benzyl group (the benzyl group may be substituted by a C1-4 alkyl group, a C1-4 alkoxy group or a halogen atom), and X- is a halogen ion, a sulfate ion or a methanesufonate ion.

Cette invention concerne un procédé d'obtention de 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophényl)quinoline-3-carbaldéhyde représenté par formule (III). Ce procédé consiste à oxyder de la 2-cyclopropyl-4-(4-fluorophényl)-3-hydroxyméthylquinoline, représentée par formule (I) avec un sel d'acide hypohalogène en présence d'un sel d'ammonium quaternaire de formule (II) dans laquelle R<1>, R<2>, R<3> et R<4> sont identiques ou différents et représentent chacun un C1-16 alkyle ou benzyle (avec substitution préalable éventuelle du benzyle par C1-4 alkyle, C1-4 alcoxy, ou halogène); et X- représente un ion halogène, un ion sulfate ou un ion méthanesulfonate.
