ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Saccharide oxides are produced by oxidation reaction wherein an alkaline aqueous suspension comprising palladium carbon catalyst suspended in an aqueous saccharide solution is contacted with an oxygen-containing gas, characterized in that the aqueous suspension contain- ing the saccharide and palladium carbon in a vessel is circulated by means of a circulating pump and a circulating pipe and this circulating pipe is connected with an injector of such a type that the gas is sucked in as the liquid is injected out to mix them together, whereby the oxygen-containing gas is sucked in by means of the cixculating liquid to effect the oxidation reaction.
