ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE . Self-crosslinking cationic paint binders in which the cross-inking is effected through the reaction of methane- carboxylic acid dialkylester monoamide structures with free hydroxyl or amino groups on the resin are described. The crosslinking functionality is provided by reaction of a polyisocyanate with a corresponding quantity of a CH-active alkyl ester. The alkyl ester is preferably a malonic acid dimethylester or malonic acid diethylester.
