Abstract: A process for producing coarse-grained sintered magnesia. The starting material is an active, reactive pulverulent magnesium oxide having a grain size of < 0.15 mm and green compacts are formned from this magnesium oxide by pelletising on a granulating disc at a material throughput of less than 250 kg of MgO/m2 disc area and per hour, which are subsequently subjected to sinter-firing at high temperature. - 16 -
