A process for producing styrene by the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene, wherein the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene is conducted through at least the following steps (1) to (3), whereby styrene can be produced in a high yield by controlling the lowering of the selectivity of an oxidation catalyst toward the oxidation of hydrogen by removing alkaline substances from a reaction mixture to be introduced into the step (2): step (1): ethylbenzene is dehydrogenated in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst to give a reaction mixture containing styrene and hydrogen, step (2): the reaction mixture is brought into contact with the oxidation catalyst to selectively oxidize the hydrogen contained in the mixture, thereby forming water, and step (3): the mixture obtained by the oxidation is brought into contact with the dehydrogenation catalyst to dehydrogenate unreacted ethylbenzene contained in the mixture, thereby giving styrene.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de styrène par déhydrogénation oxydante d'éthylbenzène. Cette déhydrogénation d'éthylbenzène est réalisée au moins en trois étapes et permet de produire du styrène en grande quantité en régulant l'abaissement de la sélectivité d'un catalyseur d'oxydation d'hydrogène par suppression des substances alcalines d'un mélange réagissant qu'on introduit au cours de l'étape 2. Dans la première étape, l'éthylbenzène est déhydrogéné en présence d'un catalyseur de déhydrogénation pour obtenir un mélange réagissant contenant du styrène et de l'hydrogène. Dans la deuxième étape, le mélange réagissant est placé au contact d'un catalyseur d'oxydation pour oxyder sélectivement l'hydrogène contenu dans le mélange et former ainsi de l'eau. Dans la troisième étape, le mélange obtenu par oxydation est placé au contact du catalyseur de déhydrogénation pour déhydrogéner l'éthylbenzène inaltéré contenu dans le mélange et obtenir ainsi du styrène.
