ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to a process for producing substituted asymmetric ureas, starting from dialkylcarbonates, aromatic amines and aliphatic amines, by a two-step procedure and in the presence of a catalyst selected from among the Lewis' acids and the alkoxides or the hydroxides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals. This process shows the advantage of requiring a minimum handling of the intermediates and of being carried out in the presence of a single reaction catalyst.
