ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for producing elongated, continuous sheets or webs of a resinous composition having an embossed or textured surface at least a portion of which is in registration with a surface-applied or printed design, in which a pattern or design of at least one heat-foamable plastisol is applied preferably by a rotary screen printer on a substrate and gelled, and preferably at least one heat foamable and one heat non-foamable or two heat-foamable plastisols which expand to different degrees under the same heat history are separately printed and gelled on the substrate in patterns which are in registration with each other; the printed and gelled plastisols are over-printed with a design in at least one and preferably a plurality of colors or shades of the same color in registration with the respective plastisol patterns preferably by a plurality of sequential rotogravure printers; registration between the plastisol patterns and the over-printed designs being maintained by varying the infeed tension of the web to the first printer of a surface design in response to means for detecting the momentary location of separate reference indicia on the web applied in registration with at least one of the plastisol patterns, and maintaining subsequent printers of surface designs in registration with the first printer by any one or a combination of varying the infeed tension to the second and subsequent printers, varying the web path between adjacent printers and varying the angular speed of rotation of individual printers in response to the comparison of a signal generated by means for detecting said reference indicia proximal to each printer with a signal generated by reference indicia detection means proximal to the first printer.
