The present invention relates to a process for producing titanium dioxide pigment, which comprises a step of coating hydrolysis product of an alkylsilane compound represented by the following formula (1): (see formula 1) (where R is an alkyl group having 5 or less carbon atoms, R' is a hydrolyzable group, and n is an integer of 1 to 3, m is an integer of 0 to 2, and n + m .ltorsim. 3) by dry processing on surfaces of particles of titanium dioxide pigment. The present invention provides titanium dioxide pigment with distinguished hydrophobic property, dispersibility, and heat resistance.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de produire un pigment de dioxyde de titane. Ce procédé comprend les étapes qui consistent à enrober à sec les surfaces des particules de pigment de dioxyde de titane avec des hydrolysats d'un alkylsilane représenté par la formule générale (1): [dans cette formule, R représente un alkyle comprenant au maximum 5 atomes de carbone; R' représente un groupe d'hydrolysable; n représente une valeur comprise entre 1 et 3, et m représente une valeur comprise entre 0 et 2, pour autant que m et n répondent à la relation: n + m </= 3]. Le procédé décrit dans cette invention permet d'obtenir des pigments de dioxyde de titane présentant une excellente hydrophobicité, une excellente dispersibilité et une excellente résistance à la chaleur.
