ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for producing a water-insoluble peroxycarboxylic acid which comprises reacting an allphatic carboxylic acid containing 6 to 16 C atoms or an aromatic carboxylic acid containing 7 to 9 C atoms with an oxidizing mixture of hydrogen peroxide, water and sulphuric acid, the carboxylic acid being suspended In the oxidizing mixture and the reaction being carried out In the presence of 0.01 to 10% by weight of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid of the formula Image relative to the hydrogen peroxide. In the process of the present invention the formation of foam is suppressed.
