The present invention provides a process for production of high yields of butanol by Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 10132. The process can be completed in a shorter span of time, using batch process through manipulation of various process parameters. The process can also be used for biomass based production of butanol. This paves the way for the strategic shift of major chemical industries from the hazardous routes of biofuel production to the biological, environmentally benign one.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant la production de rendements élevés de butanol par Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 10132. Le procédé peut être effectué dans un laps de temps plus court à l'aide d'un traitement par lots, via la manipulation de divers paramètres de traitement. Le procédé peut également être utilisé pour la production de butanol par la biomasse. Ceci ouvre la voie à un changement stratégique des principales industries chimiques consistant à passer des voies dangereuses de production de biocarburant à une voie biologique sans danger et respectueuse de l'environnement.
