Abstract of the Disclosure The invention is a process for preparing 1,17-diamino-9-azahepta- decane of the formula H2N(CH2)8NH(CH2)8NH2 by adding nitric acid, hydrochloric acid p-toluenesulfonic acid or sulfanilic acid to octamethylenediamine and heating to eliminate ammonia. 1,17-Diamino- 9-azaheptadecane is a useful intermediate in the synthesis of agricultural chemicals.
